TEXRAD RESEARCH Introduction

TexRAD Research can quantify texture features in medical images that can reveal more information about the complexity of regions than can be gathered by a visual assessment alone.

With applications in Radiomics, TexRAD Research provides radiologists, clinicians and medical researchers with a non-invasive imaging biomarker. TexRAD Research demonstrates diagnostic, prognostic and predictive intelligence in scientific research, generating more than 100 academic publications to date.

Our new research add-on TexRAD Research+, allows additional parameters to be explored (such as GLCM and shape) as well as the patented TexRAD filtration-histogram features. Grey Level Co-occurence Matrix (GLCM) features offer extra important information including contrast and homogeneity.  The add-on is compatible with previous TexRAD versions, allowing former studies and historically drawn regions of interest to be easily reprocessed and re-investigated with these additional parameters.

TEXRAD RESEARCH APPLICATIONS

TexRAD Research can easily integrate within your institute’s existing imaging infrastructure without the need for any hardware modifications.

Texture analysis can be performed on images from standard imaging modalities including CT, MRI and PET/CT. The software can be used for research into many types of disease, including all major tumour types for example; head and neck, oesophagus, breast, lung, liver, renal, prostate, colorectal, soft tissue sarcoma, melanoma and lymphoma.

TEXRAD RESEARCH BENEFITS

  • Applications in Radiomics
  • Facilitates identification of imaging biomarkers
  • Non-invasive
  • Cost effective
  • Saves time
  • More information than visual assessment
  • Strong scientific background

HOW IT WORKS

  • Select medical scan to be analysed and export to TexRAD Research
  • Segment region of interest (such as a tumour) using TexRAD’s intuitive tools
  • Hit ‘process’ to extract TexRAD texture features
  • Use data-miner tool to compare and prepare data

The TexRAD algorithm processes regions of interest to create histogram plots based on the distribution of the number of pixels vs pixel intensity. Parameters of the histogram are the basis for the unique TexRAD values found in scientific publications.

UNIQUE FEATURES

  • DICOM compliance
  • Multiple drawing tools to aid accuracy in defining region/s of interest
  • Specific algorithms for different tissues for optimal analysis
  • Option to create customised algorithms for analysis
  • Single/multi slice analysis (equivalent to 3D analysis)
  • Processing at the click of a button
  • Easy to read results with visually impactful texture map
  • Data-mining tool to aid statistics, search for correlations and demonstrate results graphically e.g. Kaplan-Meier plots
  • Import and export data for sharing
  • TexRAD Research+ offers a unique combination of patented parameters with common markers, such as GLCM or shape. GLCM features are parameters that provide spatial information on the distribution of pairs of pixels. Shape metrics tend to objectivize how clinicians typically assess the form of a lesion.
  • TexRAD Research+ with the patented TexRAD features, GLCM and shape parameters now offers a platform for comprehensive Radiomics analysis.
